Sacred Land
Article #6: The Great Remembering
I came across a shocking truth when I was in the middle of the great Australian desert. I was on one of the roughest and most remote roads, when I discovered something that would leave me in deep empathy for our great land.
Driving in the desert at sunset, I was feeling the land. I sensed a significant and powerful sacred site ahead. I felt myself drop into a deeply spiritual place, instantly I was altered by this power, a second later, a loud droning sound overhead. Suddenly I was feeling eerie and wary, corruption and disruption was at play. What was an aircraft doing in the middle of the desert? My heart dropped and seconds later I saw a sign… gold mine!
Never had I felt such wrong doing. My heart went out to the people taken from their life source, their home, for the sake of greed and gold. My heart went out to the land, once sacred and revered for its spiritual significance, now dug and drilled.
While this experience was deeply troubling, a powerful truth came from this. I learnt that where there is gold, minerals and diamonds there lies the most sacred of land. A land once respected and revered by the local indigenous, used only for ceremony. It was the life force for the people. I have now experienced that where there is gold, there is the strongest land and life force. Diamonds, silver and crystals also hold a power and vitality beyond belief.
Still to this day I feel powerless, unable to change the past, even the present. My heart aches for the millions of indigenous taken from their spiritual life force, having their land raped and pillaged for every last bit of sacred. In all of this, I am hopeful for a different future, a future where this knowledge is known by all, where people have a conscience to choose different. I stand in all that I know and continue to open up to receiving the wisdom of the land and indigenous culture around the world. As a storyteller, a healer and a Shaman, I dedicate this life to supporting people to remember, restore and return to nature… retuning to their natural state of being.
~ I honour the traditional people of this land and I give my gratitude to all the lands I have travelled. I write this with reverence and pure intention. I honour the custodians past, present and future and ask forgiveness if any information is misaligned to traditional belief systems. ~
