A New Evolution

I believe there is a new breed of humans emerging. I believe too, that this was always going to be, that we would evolve this way. Unfortunately, we have left a whole lot of destruction in the path we (humanity) have taken… but hopefully we have almost learnt that lesson by now. You know, the important lesson of harm the Earth and you harm humanity. If we can learn that one, then we will at least be back in the Stone Age of understanding the simple laws of cause and effect. Anyway, back to the evolution story…

You see, these days, we have so many cultures in our blood, that we can’t really claim to one, it is kind of like cutting off all your limbs, but maybe just leaving one leg attached.

So, a part of this evolution, is embracing all cultures and too, embracing new cultures. Like, I reckon there is a whole new culture emerging in the non-binary communities. I don’t speak that as an outsider either, cause I found profound love in a woman, and realised after that, I actually prefer to be with women anyway. So I don’t have the romantic idea of finding a husband any more. So that level of freedom allows me full expression of who I am. I think many of us have outgrown the box we were placed in when we were born… you know, the female, male box. The poor, middle class or wealthy box. The well educated or work straight out of School box. Ah gee, so many boxes, I gotta stop.

So, with the continuous merger of culture, ethnicity and even gender, mixed with the world wide web and aeroplanes… we are becoming a global family. Pretty nice to imagine hey? A world where you can be safe to be who you are, you can embrace all your ancestry and be at peace with your neighbour, even your neighbouring country…

Now you see, I get to this point (this is something I have pondered for a few years, many times over), I get to this point and I think, hang on… there is something missing in this global family… old culture, old lore. Instantly I think of the Indigenous people of these lands, the oldest living culture on the planet… and then I think, I might have gotten a bit ahead of myself here, and missed one big part of the puzzle… actually, bigger than that…. I missed the epicentre of existence.

Thankfully, I am not completely naive and blind on this epicentre. Since 2016, I have pretty much followed the teachings of Indigenous elders like a child follows their mother. Yearning for their love, learning about life, and growing up. They are the most powerful people I know. They are powerful, because of the knowledge they hold, the ancient wisdom that has seen the survival of their people for over 100,000 years. The biggest threat to them, was not the couple of ice ages they lived through… it was the targeted attacks of the colonisers, the hundreds of massacres and all the other brutish insults to their people.

Now you see, I think to talk about our next evolution in humanity, we need to acknowledge that brutality… because if we don’t, we won’t learn from it… and it will just happen all over again. Plus, the colonisation of their people will only continue as we attempt to build another human empire over the top of their land and people.

So in my world, there is a big evolution under way, but we need the guidance of the grandparents. Those people who I have followed like a child. I did that out of instinct, out of a deep knowing that they hold the key to a highly evolved humanity. That means, that whilst I see that we are becoming one big global family… we have a lot to learn… but more importantly, a lot to unlearn.
